I
was determined to be a nurse, so it’s no surprise that I went
to work in a hospital…..full of sick people! I found I
couldn’t cope with the chronically ill…not all of them were
going to get well. They cried, I cried; they vomited, I
vomited…(you get the picture.) I was in a tizzy for weeks if
someone died. I was told nursing may not be my calling but I was
determined to work in medicine – with patients, not research
rats.
Luckily, I found my nursing niche in plastic surgery. What a
wonderful specialty! I work with patients of all ages, most
leave us better than when we met, some are injured but most are
reasonably healthy and I could probably name those who have died
(of old age) in my 30 year career and not use all my fingers.
Dr. Ahmed
and I have worked together since 1980. I’m as dedicated in my
capacity as a Certified Plastic Surgical Nurse and office
manager as he is as a surgeon. As long as there’s an Ahmed
Plastic Surgery, I’ll be here!
I do most of the nonsurgical cosmetic treatments in the office.
I do the Botox, wrinkle fillers such as hylaform and
radiesse, Lipodissolve injections and hair reduction and acne
treatments. I also
do most of the light (Aesthera) and plasma (Portrait) based
wrinkle removal and skin rejuvenation treatments.
On
a personal note, my husband, Michael, and I are renovating an
old home that was built in 1832. When the children graduated
from college and the last tuition payment was made we decided to
pursue our ambition to learn to fly. We both got our private
pilot license. It
took me a couple of years to do it but on my very last day of
eligibility, I also got my instrument pilot license. It was the
hardest thing I’ve ever done so I’m mighty proud of that.
Michael is a sky diver so we’ve spent a lot of time at
airports.
Our
house is quite active between grandchildren, three dogs and a
double yellow head Amazon Parrot who talks and imitates
all the other animals. You’d think that I’d get enough of
“faces” at work but not so……my second passion next to
plastic surgery is portrait painting.
2007 has brought a new adventure for me.
I’ve started doing commission portrait work in oil so
keep me in mind if you want a unique gift.
Michael wants his home back so we’re in the process of
building an art studio for me.
Currently, there’s no where to sit…….I have
paintings everywhere.
I
play piano and I’m also an avid gardener so, of course, we had
to build a small green house to support my plant habit.
People
say I look younger than my stated age and I always tell them I
know a talented plastic surgeon (of course, I mean Dr. Ahmed)
and I don’t hesitate to use him.
I had the QuickLift (facelift) in December 2005 so you
always have the advantage of seeing my results, scarring, etc.,
in the flesh. I can
pretty much duplicate photos taken in my mid 40’s.
Once, Michael, saw that the QuickLift recovery wasn’t a
big deal, we did his facelift, too.
Our before and after photos are in the facelift section.
